September 2022 is observed as the “National Nutrition Month” in India with the aim of reducing the rate of malnutrition and anaemia, and improving health of children, adolescent girls and pregnant and lactating women. The first week of the month, September 1-7 is celebrated as “National Nutrition week,” with the purpose to raise awareness about value of healthy eating practices and proper nutrition for upholding a healthy lifestyle.

On 17^th September 2022, SaiSure Morning Nutrition Program for 80,000 government school-going children belonging to Yadgir, Raichur and Kalaburagi (Gulbarga) districts, was launched under the Amrutha Grama Yojana program in NV Grounds, Kalaburagi in the presence of Honourable Chief Minister, Sri Basavaraj Bommai. Additional Chief Secretary at Planning Department – Mrs. Shalini Rajneesh, Sri Dattatreya Patil Revoor – MLA Gulbarga South & Chairman of Kalyan Karnataka Region Development Board and Dr. Murugesh Nirani – Minister of Large and Medium Industries, Govt. of Karnataka, were also present in the event. Mr. Anand Kadali – Trustee & Secretary of Annapoorna Trust and Mr. Jayaprakash Tallam – Trustee of Annapoorna Trust were present in the event.

Annapoorna Trust introduced ‘Raagi Cereals Health Mix’ for Govt. School children in Nagar Kurnool district of Telangana on 15^th September 2022. The Trust wishes to extend its gratitude for the complete support provided by district officials and Mandal Education Officers to initiate this program in the district. Initiated as a pilot program for 735 children in 3 schools, the Trust has plans of expansion in the coming times.

The importance of natural immunity has become more pronounced in the post-Covid-era and nutrition is its main component. In order to raise awareness about the need for adequate nutrition in diet, India observes ‘National Nutrition Month’ in the month of September. A healthy diet is a mainstay for maintaining a healthy body in long run and in turn giving rise to good quality of life. The latest National Family Health Survey shows high levels of malnutrition and anemia amongst mainly children, adolescent girls, pregnant women. On 29^th August 2022, Morning Nutrition Program was launched at ZPHS school, Mustabad in Rajanna Sircilla district of Telangana. This is a part of the relaunch of Morning Nutrition Program in various districts of Telangana, initiated on 3^rd August 2022 in Bhuvanagiri district in the presence of P. Sabitha Indra Reddy, Hon’ble Education Minister.

On 20^th August 2022, Morning Nutrition program was launched in Zilpi village of Dharni Taluk, Amravathi district, Maharashtra. With relevant permissions from Government for 5 districts in Vidarbha region, morning nutrition has started in Akola and Amravathi. Very soon, the programme will start in the remaining 3 districts – Buldhana, Yavatmal & Washim as well.
