Morning Nutrition Launch at Nagansur, Akkalkot – Maharashtra 2nd July 2022

On 2nd July 2022, Morning nutrition was launched at Basavalingeshwar Mangal Karyalaya in Nagansur of Akkalkot taluk in Solapur district of Maharashtra. Nagansur is situated close to the border between Maharashtra and Karnataka states. Prior to independence, Akkalkot was a princely state ruled by the royal Bhonsale dynasty. Akkalkot is also widely known for its association with Swami Samarth who was an Indian spiritual master of the Dattatreya Tradition.
10 schools with a total of 858 children were selected as part of pilot project. Since it borders both the states, 3 schools are Marathi medium, 1 Urdu medium & 6 Kannada medium. 4 schools are situated in Nagansur village & remaining 6 schools are in the outskirts of the village. These schools have children mostly from migrant labourer families. Children are now provided biscuits & cookies for 3 days a week.
Event held at Basavalingeshwar Mangal Karyalaya in Nagansur took place in the presence of Mr. Siddaram Mhetre – Former Home Minister of state, Maharashtra, Dr Abhinav Basavalinga Mahaswamiji – Basavalingeshwar Virakt Math Nangasur, Mr. Amol Raje Bhonsale – successor of Royal family of Akkalkot & Bhonsale dynasty & also the President Sri Swami Samarth Annachatra Mandal, Mr. Somashekhar Jamshetti – Maharashtra Kannada Sahitya Parishad State President. Ms. Geeta Raju Navindgi who is also an active volunteer at Annapoorna Trust was instrumental in getting this event organised.
