Malnutrition is one of India’s greatest human development challenges. It is home to a very large number of malnourished children. Its impact on health, education, and economic productivity is a concern for the country’s prospects of economic growth.

Poor diets and malnutrition are among the greatest societal challenges of our times, impacting our health, our economies, and our environment. A healthy nutritious diet is an essential component in the growing and developing years of children. Child malnutrition is a chronic problem and a longstanding challenge in India. Malnutrition, at its core, is a dietary deficiency that results in poor health conditions. Nearly 33 lakh children in India are malnourished. It is a worry in the modern-day scenario of the country.

Morning nutrition expansion took place in the Karaikal, Mahe, and Yanam districts of Puducherry Union Territory on 12^th & 14^th December 2022 where SaiSure multi nutrient health mix is provided to Govt school children. Previously, in June 2022, official launch had taken place in Raj Nivas, in the presence of Hon. Lt. Governor of Puducherry Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan. With this expansion in all 4 districts in Puducherry Union Territory, Annapoorna Morning Nutrition now has its presence in 267 schools serving 27,575 children.

Annapoorna Trust collaborates with Amazon Web Services to provide Morning Nutrition to 5000 government school-going children in Ranga Reddy district of Telangana state.

On 6^th December 2022, the Annapoorna Morning Nutrition programme was launched at Zilla Parishad High School (ZPHS) campus at Meerkhanpet in Ranga Reddy district. The government school-going children hailing from Shabad, Yacharam, and Kandukur Mandals will receive Morning Nutrition. The chief guest, Smt. Sabitha Indra Reddy – Minister for Education, Telangana along with representatives from Amazon Web Services were present at the event. From Annapoorna Trust, Mr. Anand K Kadali – Executive Secretary and Trustee, Dhananjay Rao Ejapu – Telangana coordinator and Mr. Srikanth Vooturi – Jagtial District Coordinator, were present.

Subsequent to the launch of Morning Nutrition in Jagtial district, nearly 4 months back in Anantharam village serving 2500 children, and further expansion in November 2022 in Korutla municipality benefiting 9800 children, Annapoorna Trust launched Morning Nutrition in Kodimial Mandal of Jagtial district on 3^rd December 2022. A total of 6,500 children studying in 87 government schools in Kodimial and Mallial Mandals, would be benefited. Annapoorna Trust is now serving 20,000 children across 200 schools in the entire district.

On 24^th Nov 2022, Morning Nutrition programme was launched at ZPHS Girls High School, Korutla in Jagtial district. This would benefit nearly 9800 children across 77 government schools. This launch is an expansion of the program that was launched in August 2022 in the district.

On 14^th November – Children’s Day, Morning Nutrition program was launched in ZPSS Boys school in Jangaon. 31,228 children across 508 schools would receive Morning Nutrition. This launch is a further expansion of the program started in September 2022 in the district (benefiting 31,000 children).

The pilot initiative of Annapoorna Morning Nutrition in Tripura has been extended to 1 year after successfully completing 3 months of initial pilot program launched on 16^th December 2021, in the state. 1491 children in 8 schools were provided with SaiSure Morning Nutrition in the pilot initiative. Tripura was the first state in the Northeast to start Annapoorna Morning Nutrition program.
